What I believe is really true is that knowledge is not a burden, it is a responsibility we carry.

As Hannah and I laughed our way through all of it, we also talked about how much we cared about the people on those pages. Those younger versions of ourselves got us to the lives we have today. A Letter to You

And when you get to a point in your day where you start to become frustrated by how behind you feel, in work, in school or in life, I hope that you’ll remember that you too are doing the best you can and that you are exactly where you need to be at this very moment. Even if that means you’re stuck behind the slowest driver on the planet and you’re running a couple of minutes late. You are right on time for your life. That girl that will be your wife one day, she is coming. The job is coming. Maybe you haven’t gotten that promotion yet, because a better job is coming your way, one that more aligns with your dreams. You will get there. Take some time today to appreciate where you are standing. As Barbara Brown Taylor says, “As long as you are on the earth and you know it, you are where you are supposed to be.”

September is a weird month for me. In a sudden rush I feel nostalgia come over me like a wave, yet it’s wrapped up tightly in anxiety and an overall feeling of uneasiness. I spend most of September feeling like a little kid, still overly excited about the idea of new notebooks and pens, and also afraid of what might happen next.

In 2001, I was in the third grade. I was seven years old when 9/11 happened and I was also absolutely certain that my brother and dad were lying about these attacks they were telling me about. I wouldn’t believe them until I heard Tom Brokaw confirm it for me on the news that evening.
